Roland + Elizabeth | Disney Themed Wedding at Atkinson Farm | Danville, Virginia

Oh my goodness I don’t even know where to start! There are so many amazing and story-worthy moments about this wedding that I could probably go on forever—so bear with me on these details!

Roland and Elizabeth are so special to us. You can read more about our relationship with them in their engagement session post! And if you missed their engagement session, you’ll want to go back and watch the clip of just how windy it was that day. So when their wedding day brought tornado watches and warnings, we had nothing else but…you guessed it…more intense WIND. While no tornadoes touched down in the Danville area where we were, we still definitely felt the effects of all that wind and rain.

I had been bursting to share with you all the theme of this wedding, and as you know by now, I Do Events planned Roland and Elizabeth the most perfect Disney themed wedding at Atkinson Farm! If you spend even just one minute with these two you’ll quickly discover for yourself that their personalities are 100% Carl and Ellie (from “Up”) with a love for all things Disney. Roland even proposed to Elizabeth at Disney!

You may be wondering exactly how Disney was incorporated into this wedding celebration, so I’ll quickly recap some of the ways for you! Elizabeth walked down the aisle to When You Wish Upon a Star, the couple entered the reception to the Imperial March from Star Wars, and they cut their cake to the theme from Up. The pastor used character traits from various Disney princes and princesses as his message to the couple on the type of husband/wife they should or shouldn’t be. Each table at the reception had décor to a DIFFERENT Disney movie (Tangled, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, etc. There were SO many!). Amy with I Do Events pulled this off so cohesively and with such creativity–we are still blown away! The ceremony and reception took place under Beauty and the Beast style chandeliers. The bride and her father danced to You’ll Be In My Heart from Tarzan, and the getaway car had both Up and Mickey decorations. The couple’s head table (as well as the card table) had Up themed décor (with a special nod to Star Wars for Roland!), and the couple even brought balloons to take photos with for their “Carl and Ellie” photos! And to top it all off, Elizabeth even accidentally lost her shoe while she was walking to take photos (look for this moment when you scroll through the bridesmaids’ photos)! A true princess you guys!

There is so much more I could say, but let me leave you with this. Even the inclement weather couldn’t stop Roland and Elizabeth from having the most magical fairy tale wedding filled with so much joy and romance.
